Our first and foremost goal here at Schnauzerland is to produce an even tempered and good-natured schnauzer as your new family member. Along with having great temperaments, our schnauzers are very beautiful to look at and admire, but their main goal is to add much comfort to our stressful lives. They consider it their job to make us feel better. This comfort comes in full measure from either the big or small.
They seem to ask "what can we do today to make you feel better?" All they ask for in return is to be loved!.
In our breeding of Miniature Schnauzers, we breed for temperament first and foremost.
We have been breeding our miniatures for the past 30+ years, working hard to create what we consider to be the very best companion pet that you can have. All of our breeding dogs are selected for their fantastic personalities. We keep back puppies to grow up and watch temperament, personality and appearance. We grade these puppies harshly for the traits we are breeding for. This ensures that their offspring are the kind of companion pet that you have come to expect from Schnauzerland. This kind of breeding program is necessary to produce puppies that are exceptionally sweet, calm, and good-natured. We want all of our puppies to greet everyone with a wagging tail and easy going demeanor. Our puppies are not yippy, snappy or fearful. In fact, they think everyone has come to see them personally and always welcome a new visitor to play. (Do keep in mind that if you do not keep your puppy socialized with people, pets and children that they bond to you and their behavior can change because of not being socialized!) It is important to maintain your schnauzer’s socialization skills. We ask that soon after you purchase your new puppy that you find an obedience class to enroll in. This helps you learn how to properly train your puppy and also helps your puppy with their obedience and social skills. You may be amazed if you follow the guidelines of the teacher; your puppy will be at the top of its class.
In the next few pages of this site we hope you can find what you
are looking for in a new companion. One to become a member of your family. We feel our schnauzers are so important that we want to give 110% to provide the very best friend, companion and family member for you that we possibly can.
When you add a Schnauzerland Schnauzer to your life, we want you to feel that you really don't know how you ever lived without them.
Custom Size....... What is a custom size Schnauzer???
Years ago when Midge was growing up, many people loved her size. Midge was a dwarf giant schnauzer. She had a very special beauty of her own packed in a shorter, stocky body.
I started looking at her as the perfect size larger schnauzer. Somewhere between the Standard Schnauzer and the Giant Schnauzer. Standard size description is 17 to 20 inches tall and weighing between 35 and 50 pounds. Midge was larger and I decided I wanted to produce a schnauzer that was 20" to 24" and weighing between 40 and 65 pounds. I did actually produce schnauzers many years ago that were this size and larger. I've not tried for years to repeat this. As years have passed I've dealt with the aging of giants well over 100 pounds. Then recently, both myself and Ivan getting older with him close to 13. I found it difficult for me to help him get up, get in my bed, get him in the tub, and worst of all, getting him in my Explorer. He hated being left behind and it was difficult to get him loaded in it. So once again, I've decided to produce a schnauzer smaller than the normal giant and larger than the normal standard. My custom schnauzers will be larger enough to fill the need to hold a large schnauzer companion in your arms laying on your lap. This size will also be large enough to be protection for you and your family. One of the traits people find when they look up giant schnauzers is that they are great guard dogs when the need arises. Otherwise they are as friendly as you allow and train them to be through socializing as you grow your puppy to adulthood. This will still be true for the custom size. I'm very excited that I have the perfect group of schnauzers to do just that. I'm hoping this year to have my first litter in a long time. It will take a few years to produce them getting to various sizes and colors. Our first puppies colors possibly will be salt and pepper, black and black and silver. Their temperaments will be the same as both our minis and giants. Big enough that it WILL matter that their new family teach self control and manners. It will matter where their feet are on you.
